Overview

Edit Mode in Viewer is designed to edit vector elements on Drawings. It offers similar editing capabilities in the following modes:

  • Edit Mode

  • Redline Mode

  • Change Requests Mode

This section described toolbar sections specific to Editing modes. For base toolbar sections please refer to View / Object Select Mode.

Switching to edit mode also means that we move away from object context like Room, Space or Equipment and move towards technical drawing content, like vector entity, layer and links.

The edit toolbar overview is as follows:

Multi-selection of more than one spot is possible. All operations done when having more than one spot selected will be applied to all selected spots.

Toolbars

Adjust Toolbar

Adjust toolbar is used to align any type of background drawing to fix vector overlay.

In order to activate these functions, please select a background drawing from the Drawings and Layers menu:

For in depth explanation please refer to Move and Scale/Align background drawing guide.

Drawings & Layers

For managing Drawing components (add / remove) please refer to Guide: Manual import of raster drawing and Working with Map Data Source

Shape Properties Toolbar

Color and other properties can be changed as per vector entity if needed. In many situation this should be avoided as it can lead to some confusion, when multiple entities on the same layer look differently.

When changed, color of such entities will not correspond to colors indicated on Layer drop down.

To change a color of given shape, simply select that shape in edit mode by single click, on the Shape properties toolbar select Color drop down icon and choose desired color from the Color Picker.

Notice the "Reset to Layer style" button  that will revert selected setting. This function is available for every other setting as well.

In the same way a transparency settings of both fill color and stroke like can be changed:

Line width and radius can be controlled in several ways:

  • Fixed width setting indicated that the with of a given entity will not change with magnification of the drawing (zoom). It will remain fixed and will always appear the same way on the screen.

  • Width indicates the with of the line or border of any entity.

  • Units set to Drawing will inherit Width units from the drawing. You can also select from other units:

    • Inch

    • Millimeter

    • Centimeter

    • Meter

  • Corner radius makes corners of rectangle more rounded (please notice that this option works only for single rectangle).

Context menu in Edit mode

Context menu in Edit mode changes from Object related menu to vector entity menu as well.

Available options for selected entity include:

  • Reset to Layer Style - resets all properties of this entity back to Layer defaults.

  • Change Layer - allows to move selected spot from it's original layer to another. Edit rights for destination layer are needed.
You can also move reline spots to other redline layers from Redline mode.
You cannot hover move layers from one drawing to another (ex. overlay layer to redline drawing).

  • Delete - deletes this entity from the drawing.
(warning) Note: Auto Save function does not influence delete function. Delete is performed immediately regardless of the Auto Save setting.

  • Show links - displays a popup window with information about linked objects. for more information see Object Linking (Relations)

  • Paste link - if system clipboard contains link to another object it can be linked to this entity by using Paste link function.

  • Change Order function allows to bring selected entity to front or send it to back but only within spots on same layer.
That means that spots on layers on with higher index will not be affected by Send to Back and will still cover spots on layer with lower index.

Group / Ungroup entities by using Context Menu

If two or more entities are selected, a group menu will appear on the context menu popup.

If entities that are already grouped are selected, an Ungroup option will become available.

Other groups might be grouped together as well, but that might create a complex situation that is hard to follow.

If a Space with several columns (with negative area marker) are grouped together their area will be reported as one.
